Zail Terms Soon after the historic World Cup victory in 1983, President Giani Zail Singh hosted a tea party for the Indian team in the plush lawns of the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidential Palace) in New Delhi. The President asked Kapil Dev, who had captained India to the famous win, as to what the team planned to do. Kapil replied that they would be going to the States (meaning the US). The President misunderstood and gave a nod of approval: "Of course, of course, you should go to all the states – Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab ... Kapil could only agree to it.
